Lleyton Hewitt manages to do what Clarkey can’t and make people forget we didn’t like him when he played

Lleyton Hewitt has transitioned into commentary of tennis this summer with amazing results that has Michael Clarke scratching his head.

Former World Number 1 Tennis Player, Lleyton Hewitt has done the unthinkable and made Australians forget they disliked him when he was playing.  Taking to the court in the nineties as a rookie the Aussie public were not fond of the blonde upstart and while some came around over his decorated career there were many that did not warm to him.  All this has changed with the move to the commentary box where Hewitt has viewers intrigued with his insight on the game and the fact he is not Bruce McAveney.

The change in public opinion has former Australian Cricket Captain Michael Clarke studying the tapes for insight as to the catalyst for the change.

A person close to Clarke said “Pup is shocked that people are warming to Hewitt.  I mean he doesn’t even have frosted tips. He looks like Grant Denyer”.

It remains to be seen whether Clarke can improve his connection with the Australian Cricketing public with the summer starting to slow down after the Test Series.

Hewitt on the other hand is being flagged as a potential foil for Koshy on Sunrise in 2018.

More to come…

  1. Nick says:

Michael Clarke needs to understand that people watching the cricket actually understand cricket. He speaks to viewers like they’re pre-schoolers with no understanding or concept of the game. His patronising tone and condescending comments absurd he’ll never be liked or respected as a commentator. He’s a flog!
